Use your smartphone to perform a urine test with epixlife® Strips

The epixlife® urinalysis is a diagnostic tool used to evaluate various biomarkers about the current state of the body.

In these test strips, the urine reacts with different components of the sample and provides visual results to be interpreted by the healthcare professional.

This test is very useful in medical settings as it can help detect a variety of conditions from urinary tract infections to kidney disease and metabolic problems.

Everything you need to know about your body in 1 minute

The epixlife® Strips urinalysis is a valuable tool for estimating the health of the urinary tract and the body in general.
By performing this test, several important components of urine can be evaluated, including:

Leukocytes, also known as white blood cells, are a type of immune system cells present in the blood and tissues.

Their main function is to defend the body against pathogens, toxins and other harmful substances.

Normally, nitrates are found in the urine in small amounts and are produced by the body or obtained through the diet.

However, when there is a bacterial infection in the urinary tract, bacteria can convert nitrates to nitrites.

An elevated level of urobilinogen in the urine may indicate liver problems, such as hepatitis, cirrhosis or bile duct obstruction.

On the other hand, low urine urobilinogen levels may indicate decreased bilirubin production or reduced bacterial activity in the intestine.

Protein excretion in urine may indicate kidney or urinary tract disease.

The presence of protein in urine alone does not allow an accurate diagnosis, as it may have other causes, such as physical exertion.

Urine pH can be influenced by several factors, such as diet, hydration, certain medications, and underlying medical conditions.

Some examples of how different factors can affect urine pH are:

A diet high in protein and acidic foods can acidify the urine.
Dehydration can concentrate the urine and make it more acidic.
Some medications, such as diuretics, can alter the pH of urine.
Urinary tract infections and certain kidney diseases can affect urine pH.

Kidney and urinary tract diseases are the main causes of blood in the urine.

Under certain conditions (physical exertion, inflammation, ingestion of toxic substances, infections) hemoglobin, the blood component that gives red blood cells (erythrocytes) their red color, may be released.

Specific gravity in a urinalysis is a measure of the concentration of solutes in urine compared to pure water.

It is used to assess the ability of the kidneys to concentrate or dilute urine, and can provide information about kidney function and the body’s hydration status.

Ketone bodies are waste products produced when the body uses fats instead of glucose as an energy source.

The presence of ketones in the urine may indicate that the body is metabolizing fats instead of carbohydrates as a source of energy.

The presence of bilirubin in the urine may be an indication of various medical conditions, such as liver disease, bile duct obstruction, infections or inflammation of the liver, and blood disorders.

The presence of glucose in the urine can be an indication of high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia) and may be a sign of poorly controlled diabetes.

Diabetes is a condition in which the body does not produce enough insulin or cannot use insulin effectively, resulting in elevated blood glucose levels.
